Quartz Countertops

Cambria Quartz Countertop

Quartz is my 1st choice for countertops. It is the most durable countertop product on the market - plus, it's gorgeous and completely maintenance-free.

The quality of quartz counters is not dependant on a particular name brand. You'll see slight differences in the colors offered by each. The biggest difference will be in the price - and the price is determined by availability and region.

In our cabinetry business, we offer Cambria. We can get Cambria to us for the least amount of money, because it's manufactured only a few hours away.

Cambria is the only quartz countertop manufactured in the US right now. But some countertop dealers can get the other brands for less money, because of the quantity they need. Either way, you can't go wrong.

What is Quartz?

Simply put, raw quartz crystals are ground up. The ground quartz is added to a manmade resin. Pigments are added for color. Then the mixture is vibrated and compressed while the air is sucked out. The result is a nearly indestructible surface that's 93% natural stone.

Granite vs. Quartz

Granite and quartz products (Cambria, Silestone, Zodiaq) are very similar. Both maintain a shine and are nearly indestructible. Generally, the cost is quite comparable as well.

I prefer the quartz for a couple of reasons.

1) Durability - scratch resistant, heat resistant, stain resistant
2) Maintenance - wipe with warm water, no sealing or reconditioning to maintain a high luster
3) Consistent coloring between slabs - it can be difficult to find enough matching pieces of granite to complete a large kitchen
4) Beauty - 93% natural stone quart

Granite is a great product, too. It comes down to personal preference. The maintenance required is often quick and inexpensive. The trick is remembering to do it.

If you've narrowed it down to granite or quartz, you're choosing between the top two countertop products available. You can't go wrong with either one!
