What services do you offer?
We can assist your through every step of the design and installation process. We offer custom designs, based on your space and the way you and your family use it. One of the biggest benefits of working with us is our personal service and attention to detail.

I'm here to assist you with anything you need. I start with an in-home consultation, where we talk about the space and how you want to use it. From there I'm available to assist with all design options as well as helping you firgure out a timeframe and work schedule.

My main focus is to educate you on the process and materials. Some people just need a sounding board for ideas, while others want to be guided through the process. My involvement is whatever you want it to be.

We work closely with the other tradesmen at the jobsite to come up with solutions to the inevitable "surprises" involved in remodels. We also communicate with the plumbers and electricians to make sure that everything is placed correctly before the cabinetry is installed.

What products do you offer?
We offer custom cabinetry and countertops. Our cabinetry wood choices are cherry, maple and oak. For rustic design we have a knotty cherry and a knotty maple. We offer 12-16 stain/glaze options for each wood. We also offer several choices of colortone (painted) cabinetry on paint-grade maple or cherry. We incorporate several decorative trim items into our designs as well.

Our countertop choices are HD Wilsonart (laminate), granite, and quartz. The quartz brands we carry are Hanstone, Silestone and Cambria. We do not fabricate the countertops. We do set up the scheduling and deal directly with the supplier. Our countertop prices are generally less expensive than most, because we put very little mark-up on them. Most of our income is based on the cabinetry; we offer countertops as an added service to our clients.

What is your process - from beginning to end?
The first step is to contact us.
  1. Initial Contact
You can either stop into the showroom or give me a call or email. During this initial contact, I'll get an idea of what type of project your looking at, along with jotting down your ideas. We'll set up a time for an in-home consultation (remodels) or a time to review blueprints (new construction).
  2. In-Home Consultation/Blueprint Review
This is when I get a look at the space you are planning your project in. Sometimes it's difficult to think of a new layout when you've lived in a place for several years. I'll take measurements and ask several questions about how you and your family use your space now and how you wish you could use it. I'll also ask questions about what we can change and what needs to stay the same (walls, windows, plumbing, electrical, etc). It's often the budget that dictates how much can be done. I'll also get ideas on your style and what you want the finished cabinets to look like. The more info I get during this phase, the more accurate the initial quote will be. Next we set up a time for you to come to the showroom to review the initial design and quote.
  3. Design and Quote Review
We do the review of the initial design in the showroom, because that's where the software is. Once an initial design is in the software, changes are easy. I can make changes to the design and reflect them in the quote while you are here. I usually have at least 2 design layouts, with reasons behind each. You can look at each and tell me what you like or don't like and I'll alter them.
  4. Finalize Design and Quote
Sometimes this process is done right away and sometimes it takes several weeks for all decisions to be made. Once the layout design is finished, you need to focus on the design options. These are wood and finish, door style, surface hardware, countertop material and color. Until these decisions are made, we can't finalize the quote. I can change different options within the quote, so you can see how they effect the cost.
  5. Sign Contract and Deposit
After the decisions are made and you are ready to get started, it's time to sign the final quote. This quote is guaranteed to be the installed price of the cabinetry and countertop - including sales tax. Additional charges can come up, if you make changes after the final quote is signed - which is why planning is so important. When the contract is signed, a 50% deposit is due.
  6. Build Cabinetry
You're not really involved during this part, but it is happening. During this time, you're usually overseeing the prep work at your home. Sometimes this is major construction and sometimes it's simply removing the old cabinets. I'm available for any questions or concerns the other tradesmen have about the project. I'm also here for moral support, if needed, while your home is being transformed.
  7. Installation of Cabinetry
This usually takes Jason 2-3 days for an average kitchen and 1 day for an average bath or entertainment center. You'll start to see the finish line.
  8. Countertop Template
We usually schedule countertop templates to be done on the second day of installation. This way Jason or I am there to answer any questions about layout or overhang or anything out of the ordinary. As long as the base cabinets are in, the templates can be made. By overlapping the work schedule slightly, you don't have to wait so long for a "working" kitchen. If you are getting a countertop through another supplier, try to schedule the template as close to the cabinetry install as possible. If you give us the supplier's info, we can work with them on the timeline.
  9. Countertop Installation
Countertop installation is usually 5-7 working days after the template. For granite and quartz counters, the backsplash is templated after the deck is installed. Its only a couple of days later for the backsplash to be installed.
  10. Get Everything Hooked Up
Now you can call your plumber, electrician and appliance dealer to get everything working. You can do some of that while waiting for the countertop to be installed. But the plumber can't do much until the sink is in, so most people have him wait to hook up the plumbing to the dishwasher and refrigerator at the same time.

How do I get started on my initial quote?
All you need to do it contact us - stop into the showroom, call or email. I'll talk to you a little about your project and we'll set up a time to do an in-home consultation. During the consultation, I'll ask several questions about the space and how you want to use it. I'll also get a feel for your design style and likes and dislikes. From there, I'll com back to the computer and put it all together. After I have a couple designs that fit the space and your preferences, we'll set up a time for you to review the designs and quote.

How do you present your designs and pricing?
All of our designs and pricing are done with software. They are separate programs, so as I change the design, I have to make changes to the pricing software as well. Click on the following for an example of each (all belong to the same kitchen):
  • Presentation - 3-D View
  • Floor Plan - Overhead View
  • Elevation - Wall View
  • Proposal - Quote
For either program, changes and alterations are easy, after the project is in the system. For example, it's as simple as 2 clicks to price a design in cherry vs maple. I can save as many versions of pricing or designs as necessary until you make your final decisions. There is no quesswork - on finished design or pricing.

Does your design software show a 3-D view of the plan?
Yes the software shows a 3-D view of the propsed designs. It also shows floor plan and elevation views. Click on the following for an example of each (all belong to the same kitchen):
  • Presentation - 3-D View
  • Floor Plan - Overhead View
  • Elevation - Wall View
  • Proposal - Quote

Is there a charge for the custom design and quote?
There is no charge for the design and quote. However, if you want to take the plans with measurements prior to signing a contract, there is a $150 charge. The $150 fee is credited to your quote, when you decide to move forward with the project. There is no charge for having the design and quote done or reviewing them in the showroom.

    • Decorative trims and mouldings
    • High quality soft-close drawer hardware
    • High quality soft-close door hardware

  • All installation charges
  • Sales tax
The countertop quote includes:

  • Template cost

  • Installation cost
  • May or may not include a sink, depending on yours needs
A quote price only changes if you make changes to the design or materials used.

How long is your quote active?
For most jobs, our quotes are good for 3 months.  If you decide to go ahead with a project after 3 months from the last quote on file, we’ll refigure pricing.  We may need to take into account various price changes in materials.

For new home construction, we allow more time – 6-9 months.  Often the planning process is done long before the home is ready for cabinets.  It is important to have the cabinetry designs finalized early on, so the plumber and electrician know the placement of appliances and fixtures.

How much does custom cabinetry cost?
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer without knowing all of the variables.  We offer free quotes, so we won’t have to guess.

Cost is figured based on wood specie, finish type, door style, amount of cabinet boxes, type of cabinet boxes, specialty hardware and decorative trims.

When you get a quote from us, it’s based on a specific design with certain variables included in the cost.  The quote also includes sales tax and installation.  There are no additional fees.  As you change you design options (door styles, finish, etc.), the quote is updated.  This way you know exactly what things cost and you can adjust options to meet your budget.

Of the kitchens that we’ve installed in the past 6 months, the least expensive cabinetry quote was $11,000 (very small kitchen, colortone finish with no glaze on maple) and the most expensive was $28,000 (large kitchen, stain/glaze on cherry).  The least expensive countertop was $1,300 (small kitchen with HD laminate) and the most expensive was $11,000 (2 levels of granite on a large peninsula and a full height granite backsplash behind 48” cooktop).

Do you make your own cabinets?
Jason custom builds all of the boxes. We order the door and drawer fronts from a custom door company - Conestoga. By ordering doors from a door company, we can offer a wider variety of styles, woods and finishes. This is also more cost efficient for us. and the client.

Can I visit the cabinetry shop to see how the cabinetry are made?
Yes. Jason doesn't mind showing people around the cabinet shop and demonstrating the construction methods he uses. It's best to call ahead and set a time to make sure that he is there.

How long will it take to get my new kitchen cabinetry?
Six weeks from the day that the contract is signed and a deposit check is received.  For complete cabinetry in a new home we look for 10 weeks.

The only exception is during spring planting and fall harvest.  Planting is only a 2 week timeframe, while harvest is usually a 6 week timeframe.  Installation after harvest is first come – first served.  Jason often has several jobs to install after harvest and before Christmas.  He is usually caught up by the beginning of December.  Spring planting doesn’t create the same type of backlog.  We set a delivery date around harvest and planting, so you know when to expect us.  We haven’t missed a scheduled delivery in 9 years.

Countertops are installed 1-2 weeks after the cabinetry goes in.  We schedule the countertop for template while Jason’s finishing the installation.  Most of the countertops we offer are installed 5-7 working days after the template.  The only exception is Cambria; they’re always at least 3 weeks out.  The other brands of quartz we offer (Hanstone and Silestone) fall into that 5-7 working day turnaround.
