It's important to keep on top of the timeline here. This is where we see the most hold-ups with our clients. If our cabinetry installations get pushed back, it's because the preliminary work isn't finished.
If you're not making structural changes, this process is usually rather painless.
Repair damaged sheetrock or plaster
Re-route plumbing or gas lines if appliances an sinks are being relocated
Re-route or add exhaust ductwork as needed
Re-route or add to electrical as needed
Clean up
Paint walls (keep extra paint for touch-ups after installation)
The process is a bit longer if you're including structural changes.
Rough carpentry - framing of new walls
Rough electrical and plumbing
Sheetrock or plaster
Finish carpentry
Finish plumbing and electrical
Clean up
Paint walls (keep extra paint for touch-ups after installation)
Your kitchen should be very clean before installation begins. Workers will usually tidy up at the end of the day. But you can get things much cleaner after they leave. Keep a broom or shop vac nearby and do a quick clean every night.
Finally, you've made it to the last leg of the race. During installation, you'll watch everything come together.
